Essence

My name, Bume, means the essence of being, and I’ve carried that meaning with me for as long as I can remember. It shows up most clearly in the things I make. Give me acrylic paint, and I lose track of time. Sit me at a piano and jazz is where my hands wander, chasing a feeling more than a score. 

Underneath all of it, what I care about is bringing the intangible to life, taking a feeling I can’t quite name and shaping it into something you can see, hear or hold, letting it speak in the places where words run out.

That’s the through line for me, and it’s where I feel most like myself.
