BCG x UCT Consulting Case Competition, 3rd place national (2025)

Placed 3rd of 30 teams. Built a bottom-up model of South Africa’s electricity demand to 2035, quantified the supply gap against a flat fossil-fuel fleet, and modelled passive and aggressive decarbonisation scenarios costed on levelised cost of electricity.

Pneumonia Detection from Chest X-rays, deep learning (2026)

Built and trained a convolutional neural network in PyTorch to classify chest X-rays, handling class imbalance and a small dataset. Reached 90.7% accuracy while correctly identifying 97.4% of pneumonia cases on unseen data, outperforming a pre-trained ResNet18 benchmark.

SafeCampus, GirlCode Hackathon, 2nd place Cape Town (2024)

Led UI/UX design in a three-person team and built a student-safety mobile app in Flutter and Dart, pitching to a panel from GirlCode and sponsors including NinetyOne, Takealot, Paystack and Chenosis.

Power System for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (2026)

Owned the power subsystem of a semi-autonomous underwater vehicle built for Antarctic deployment, balancing high-power motor demands against noise-sensitive control, battery life and fault protection within a roughly R2,000 budget.

Micromouse Autonomous Robot, Simulink, embedded C, STM32 (2025)

Programmed an autonomous robot to explore an unknown maze, find the goal and drive the fastest return route.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Foundational certification in AWS cloud services and principles, earned through a Cloud Quest tournament hosted by the Wits AWS Cloud Club.

Student Governance, SRC Chairperson (2022)

Served as Chairperson of the Student Representative Council in my final year of school, leading student governance.

School Diversity and Inclusion Policy

As chair, worked with the principal to develop and implement a Diversity and Inclusion proclamation, building a more inclusive environment across race, gender, sexuality and background.

Intergenerational Dialogue Initiative

Took part in a programme creating dialogue between the youth of 1976 and today’s youth, weighing the country’s progress and where it still needs to go.

Community Volunteering

During the lockdown and the unrest that followed, helped a community group prepare meals for volunteers running post-looting clean-up efforts.
